CHANGE FOR CHANGE 2007- Change for Change was an enormous success! Thanks to Cathy McHorse and then entire community for their hard work. The coin drive brought in over $12,000 penny by penny and showed the children of our community how to serve others. We had several schools and organizations participate and were able to raise awareness about Partnerships for Children and the work that we do to help children in the care of CPS.

MARCH 7, 2008 PC GALA TEXAS TREASURES -  This year's gala was held at the Texas Disposal Systems Exotic Game Ranch and Pavillion. We would like to thank the many supporters of Texas Treasures who are responsible for raising over $75,000 for the children of Travis County! We look forward to seeing you next year.

APRIL 12, 2008 PROM PRINCESS & PROM DUDE PROJECT- PC particpated in the "Prom Princess & Prom Dude Project" an annual event that assists high school junior and senior foster kids in preparing for their prom. Partnerships was able to donate dresses for the ladies, along with manicures and pedicures, hair styling, makeup application and much more to make their special night one to remember.

JUNE 2008 PARENT IN RECOVERY GRANT- Partnerships for Children has recently teamed up with The Department of Family and Protective Services to assist with the Parent in Recovery (PIR) grant. It serves close to 20-25 mothers a year who suffer from substance abuse. These women are offered a 90 day drug treatment program as well as outpatient care after their discharge. PC provides many of the necessary household products and furniture in order to assist these families with a fresh start. Along with this care, housing is provided for the women and their families. Child Protective Services, Austin Recovery and Foundation Communities partner to improve outcomes for these mothers and their children. These three organizations along with the mother of each family, meet weekly to discuss progress and ways to move forward. This federal aid grant originated due to the high number of children in foster care who are abused and neglected because of their mother's substance abuse problems. The goal of this grant is not only to reduce the barriers that sometimes hinder these mothers from getting back on their feet, but also to improve child/parent relationships within these families.

JUNE 2008 AUSTIN PREGNANCY RESOURCE CENTER- When PC is able to partner with other organizations to help spread our resources throughout Austin, it makes what we do all the more fulfilling. This month, we were able to donate 300 cans of formula to the Austin Pregnancy Resource center equaling a donation worth $7,500. We hope to continue our relationship with APR as well as other organizations benefitting children throughout Travis County.

HOLIDAY WISHES 2008- This year we hope to serve 3,000 children by making their wishes come true during the holiday season. We need donors to "adopt" children and help to provide a sense of wonder to their lives. Please contact Becky Johnson if you are interested in adopting a child or providing general gifts at johnson.becky@gmail.com.
