the Ready Bag Fundraising Program at Partnerships for Children
Your family can help a child in foster care by sponsoring a new duffel bag (the “Ready Bag”)
with basic necessities. There are approximately 3,400 children in foster care here in central Texas and 700 of these children are awaiting adoption. As many as 25% will never be reunified with their family or adopted. Three out of four children are separated from at least one sibling. The average number of times a child is placed in a new foster home is four. Sometimes they lose all their possessions and are almost always in need of basic necessities.
We are working to fund 600 Ready Bags to meet the needs of the upcoming sesason
The services that Partnerships for Children provides to children in central Texas is 100% supported by private donations and private grants. Child Protective Service(CPS) caseworkers are coming into our Rainbow Room day and night for supplies. Without your help, these children would not have their basic needs met during an extremely traumatic time. Help a child who has been separated from their family in central Texas today by sponsoring one or more Ready Bags.
The Ready Bag...just one example...homes with meth labs are still a problem in central Texas.
When a child is removed from a meth lab home, they cannot take any of their personal belongings (clothing, toys, blankets etc.) with them because toxic residue has contaminated everything in the home. Children who are removed from meth homes enter foster care without any of their personal belongings and have to start completely over with clothing, toys and personal items. A caseworker can drop by the Rainbow Room any time of the day or night to pick up a Ready Bag for each child. The contents of the Ready Bag are appropriately filled according to the age and sex of the child.
