Other Programs

Partnerships for Children works with a number of other non-profit organizations and community groups to provide CPS kids with resources that help provide a sense of normalcy to their lives. The following are supplemental programs that work toward the goal of helping these children to feel just like any other child.

Back to School Backpacks

In partnership with Operation School Bell and the National Charity Bell, PC helps foster kids prepare for the upcoming school year. Caseworkers sign their kids up with the Rainbow Room and we supply them with backpacks and the necessary school supplies.

Easter Baskets

In partnership with the National Charity League, PC collects and distributes Easter baskets to families every year. The baskets can be picked up by caseworkers and distributed to families. These are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Thanksgiving Food Baskets

PC partners with Austin Apartment Association to collect and distribute boxes of food that not only provide “all the fixin’s” for a Thanksgiving meal for four, but also provides enough food for that family to eat for a week. Caseworkers can get meals for their families, but the supply is limited and they’re distributed on a first come, first serve basis.

Special Requests

Special requests are used for the larger items that aren’t kept in stock in the Rainbow Room. These items include twin beds, car seats, food, booster seats, and other big ticket items. Special request forms are available in the Rainbow Room. Once completed, the request is processed and the caseworker is contacted when and if the item becomes available, usually within a weeks time.

PAL

The Teen Conferences provide an open forum for our foster youth, ages 13-19, to discuss issues that relate directly to their situations. Entertainment, food, and breakout sessions with trained, relatable facilitators are just part of what these conferences have to offer its attendees.

In partnership with corporate and private donors, PC coordinates drives for formal dresses, shoes, and accessories and provides volunteers for the annual prom project to prepare our children for their high school prom.

Scholarship

PC awards a scholarship at the annual Gala to a college bound foster youth that has showed academic promose and has risen above their personal situation to excel.
